What a directory click count can tell you
A click count is a record of people leaving a directory for a listed website. It is useful context, but it is much smaller than a complete traffic or business picture.
What Freeboard records
When a visitor chooses a live Freeboard listing, the directory records one outbound click before opening the destination. The count belongs to Freeboard’s own measurement system. It does not come from the listed website’s analytics account.
What it can show
Over time, the number can help an operator see whether people from this directory are choosing to visit their listing. It can also help Freeboard order the homepage’s featured listings using a transparent, first-party signal.
What it cannot show
A click is not a sale, sign-up, search ranking, review or quality score. It does not show whether the visitor stayed, purchased anything, or was a unique person. A site may have strong traffic from other sources and few Freeboard clicks, or the reverse.
How to use it well
Watch for changes after you improve your title, description or category. Pair Freeboard click data with your own analytics referral report and conversion events. That gives you a useful answer: did this directory send visitors who took the next action you needed?
